As you may already be aware, Skandar’s birthday is just around the corner and we haven’t organised a birthday project for this year as of yet. For Skandar’s birthday last year we put together a scrapbook of messages that were then sent to him which took a lot of time to organise. As neither Sam or I has the time this year and have been very busy, unfortunately we have not been able to put anything together to send him to mark his eighteen birthday.

However, our lovely visitor Shannon is putting together a sort of last minute birthday project on our behalf. The idea is to send a video compilation of birthday wishes to Skandar from our visitors. If you would like to participate, please upload a video with your message (no longer than 30 seconds, and make sure you have uploaded it somewhere first – mediafire.com or sendspace.com would be preferable) and email it to birthday09@skandar.net! So get thinking, and again we apologise for the incredibly late notice!

New stills from Prince Caspian have been added to the gallery, taken from the Japanese Official site. I’ve also added some old HQs from the Planet Hollywood appearance back in 2005.

The wallpapers section has been updated with 3 lovely new submissions donated by Anna!

The deadline for the Birthday Project has passed and we are not accepting any more submissions.
A huge thanks to everyone who participated, as I said before we’ve had some amazing entries which I’m sure Skandar will love! We have received over 100 entries and as there have been so many I cannot guarantee that all entries will make the scrapbook but I will try my best to include as many as possible. I will also put some pictures of the scrapbook up in the gallery before I send it off.

This is a reminder that the deadline for emailed entries for the Birthday Scrapbook is August 4th, so if you have yet to submit your entry the you need to do this soon as there is now only one week left! If you are still planning to send an entry via postal mail then you must contact us before this date to get the address so that it will reach us in time for the scrapbook to be sent out.

Also I just want to thank everyone who has sent entries to far, we’ve had so many more than I anticipated we would have and they really are fantastic! I haven’t been able to reply to everyone but please be assured that if you’ve sent it and haven’t received a reply, we’ve still got received your entry and you don’t need to send it twice. If you are having problems sending your entry to the birthday email address, then please use skandarnet@googlemail.com alternatively.

We have decided to put something together for Skandar’s birthday this year, and have gone with the idea of having a scrapbook filled with birthday messages from his fans which will then be sent to him. Visit the birthday section for further information and get involved!

IndieLondon have posted a new interview with Skandar and William:

Q. What were the challenges this time around?
Skandar Keynes: One of the biggest challenges was sort of the step up in the physical aspect of the shoot. I was quite unfortunate because in one of my stunts I was running and jumping off this rock and landing on a horse. But one time, at the very beginning of all this action, I missed the horse [laughs], so I had a busted heel. It wasn’t in a cast but it was really badly bruised and any time you put any weight on it, it hurt. So I had to do the rest of the battle sort of doped up on painkillers, which proved very problematic. It made it really difficult and made more of a challenge something that was already not a piece of cake.

Q. Do you find yourself being recognised a lot?
Skandar Keynes: Not really. I kind of feel that once we’re back in London and back in regular life, I just sort of get the bus and very occasionally this whole other role slips into my home life. Randomly people recognise me but even then it’s very minor. It’s not as if my life has been turned on its head and I can’t walk down the street unless I’m wearing dark sunglasses and a ninja kit.

Some more pictures from the French Premiere have been added.

Rotten Tomatoes have published a wonderful new interview with Skandar:

I imagine you learnt a lot on the first film — when you came back for Caspian was it easier to get going? Were there fewer nerves?

SK: Yes, there are less nerves and it’s also great because on the first day of the first one you have to start establishing bonds with people. You’re young, not really experienced in the industry and you’re suddenly thrown into this group. The first day is kind-of daunting.

In this film it was so much easier because we walked straight back in and re-established these bonds that we already had. It was a relief and it was so relaxing. It just felt like we didn’t have to waste time with those sorts of things; we could get straight to work and we could really go forward to create a better film.
